Retiro

Right, so today´s instalment in my ongoing photo blog (read: effort to kill some time) sees me going back into Madrid, wandering around a bit, then spending an hour waiting for trains to get back to where I'm staying. Because my language skills are so poor, and because I'm a vegetarian and therefore can't trust that I'll be able to figure out what's OK for me to eat, I decided to go find a vegetarian restaurant. I did, I ordered, it was very yummy. It was down a very quiet street, and I noticed that all the diners there were on their own, but oh well, maybe it's a solitary calling.



This building, decorated with a whole bunch of ugly yet colourful murals, dominates the most touristy square (the Plaza Mayor).



In Madrid, the manhole covers look like this, and really there's no reason to point a camera at them, except oh, who ever does?



And here's me in the main park in the centre of town, the Parque del Retiro. I thought I'd try out the holding-at-arm's-length method of photographing oneself. I might retire this skill.



Oh and here's a train on the Metro system, which I know a bunch of you are keen to see more of. Like, no-one maybe, but I will continue to feature them.
